New home, new drill!

We have moved!  Last Monday the movers came around, and packed up everything.  Tuesday was the actual move.  It was a bit stressful and emotional at the same time.  This had been our first 'home' in the US, but we needed more space.  A two-bedroomed flat with 4 bikes and 2 cats made for a very cramped space - even more so when we had friends staying.  We dilly-dallied for a long time, then found ourselves left with 4 days to find something.  Although we did not have a lot of choice, I am very happy with our new home in East Boston.  It reminds me a bit of the East End in London, but has a lot more going on.
At the moment we are still surrounded by quite a few unpacked boxes, but about 75% of the unpacking has been done.  We picked the Toffy and Mr Jones up today (as they have been in a hotel this past week), and they seem to be settling in.
On Wednesday, I decided to go out for a run, even though there was a lot to do in the house.  I felt that it was important for my mental health.  The great thing about our new area, are the hills.  Properly steep hills!  I am really going to make an effort and run outside.  Mentally I feel in a much better place now that the move is done.  I have gotten over my disappointment of not being able to go to South Africa for the Two Oceans half marathon, and the new move has totally changed my daily schedule.
This shake up is good for me, as I had gotten quite lazy and complacent over the past year with my health and fitness.  I had a good run on Thursday, and then went to watch the Bruins win their third match against the Philadelphia Flyers. Another run on Friday, and finally a great run this morning.  I am still trying to work out the running routes, as I would ideally like to include a few hills in a 'normal' run.  I also found a really good hill for repeats, and there is a track not far away to do some track work.  The set up is very similar to Cambridge - except here we have hills.  There is no reason why I can't make a go of this.  There is also a bike path nearby, so tomorrow might be a cross training day!

  6. That sounds like a great new home you have. Hills are important. I don’t have any routes without hills. All the best in your new home!

Comrades is on 29 May and I’ve done what I could. I’m confident and scared. That should be good I think.
